Road Materials Laboratory
Description:
The Road Materials Laboratory of DIATI operates in the field of road infrastructure, carrying out teaching, research, technical and scientific consulting and contracting activities according to Art.
49 T.U. – R.D. 1592/33.
It is an official laboratory under Art.
59 Presidential Decree no.
380/2001 capable of issuing certificates and test reports valid for the purpose of verification of construction products.

Road Safety and Driving Simulation Workshop
Description:
Active since 2015, the laboratory supports the research activities of the Scientific Disciplinary Area ICAR-04 (Roads, Railways, Airports) concerning the geometric design of infrastructure, with specific reference to the issues of traffic safety of all categories of users (drivers and passengers, cyclists and pedestrians).
Research topics include:
(i) the interaction between vehicle, driver, infrastructure and environment;
(ii) the operational effects of road geometry;
(iii) visibility analyses;
(iv) safety analyses using predictive methods;
(v) operational speed surveys for setting speed limits, evaluating the effectiveness of traffic calming systems, monitoring speed moderation systems, and speed management more generally.
